Lesson 131: Success without ResourcesWe can win in armed conflict, but pressing for an advantage without resources and searching for successful confrontations is worse than foolish. It is totally self-destructive. In the long term, beating opponents in direct conflict is relatively
unimportant. The strategic goal is always advancing our position so that we
control better and more productive territory. Over the long term, success always
comes down to economic strength. We cannot sacrifice our resources and expect to
win. Protecting our source of income, our resources, and supporters provides for
the future. If we manage our organizations well, we preserve our ability to
compete in the future. We survive. Survival should be the first and foremost
goal of anyone striving for success. |
