Lesson 146: The Key Constraints on Strategy
The topic of this chapter, adaptability, serves as an introduction to the
next three chapters, which offer very detailed prescriptions for dealing with
specific situations. In this stanza, the first three lines echo the previous
chapter, but the next ten lines reference situations discussed in detail in the
next three chapters. The ten situations listed here are not, as we might first
think, the specific issues discussed in this chapter. They are selected to
illustrate the fact that what we can and cannot do is determined by our specific
situations, not our wants and desires.
